Preventing Malaria: New Guidelines for Rongai Residents

With the recent changing weather patterns in Ongata Rongai, we have noticed a slight increase in malaria cases. Fatima Mission Hospital is committed to prevention first. Here are the updated guidelines for our community.

1. Eliminate Breeding Grounds

Mosquitoes breed in stagnant water. Ensure that all open drains around your home are cleared, and cover any water storage containers. Even a small bottle cap of water can be a breeding ground.

2. Consistent Use of Nets

We urge all residents, especially pregnant mothers and children under 5, to sleep under Treated Mosquito Nets every night. If you need a net, please visit our outpatient desk for information on subsidized distribution.

"Early diagnosis is key. If you experience fever, joint pains, or nausea, do not self-medicate. Visit the hospital immediately for testing."

Our laboratory is open 24/7 for rapid malaria testing. Stay safe!

Milestone: Acquisition of Modern Ultrasound Machine

We are thrilled to announce a major upgrade to our imaging department. Fatima Mission Hospital has acquired a state-of-the-art 4D Ultrasound Machine to better serve our patients.

What this means for you:

  • Clearer Imaging: High-resolution images allow for more accurate diagnosis of internal conditions.
  • Maternity Care: Expectant mothers can now see detailed 3D/4D images of their unborn babies, checking for development milestones with greater precision.
  • Faster Results: The digital integration means your doctor gets the results instantly on their computer.

This acquisition aligns with our mission to provide quality healthcare that is accessible to everyone in Rongai. The machine is now fully operational.

Healthy Diet

Boosting Immunity Through Your Daily Diet

Your immune system is your body's first line of defense. While medicine cures, food prevents. Here are simple, locally available foods in Kenya that can boost your immunity.

Top Immunity Boosters:

  1. Traditional Vegetables (Managu & Terere): Rich in iron and vitamins, these greens are far superior to cabbage. Ensure you eat them at least 3 times a week.
  2. Citrus Fruits: Oranges and lemons are packed with Vitamin C, which increases the production of white blood cells.
  3. Garlic and Ginger: These common kitchen ingredients have strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Add them to your tea or food.
  4. Hydration: Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day helps flush out toxins.

Remember, a healthy diet works best when combined with regular exercise and good sleep!
